I have a couple of ideas is to somehow get a wireless charging pad into the centre console area under the lid for a phone. I am trying to remove all of the stuff from the pillar. One day down the track I would like to get some gauges and mount them into a pillar mount.

My idea - I found some console trays on Aliexpress for different models Pajero/Outlander, maybe mount a wireless charger from underneath and job done. The hardest bit is finding something that fits.



I also need to try and find a centre console box that has a power socket. My Evo didn't get the socket. Maybe due to heated seats. I need to find the part number for the console bin with provisions for a socket. I found part number 8011A223, I am unsure if this is the one with the socket. Then either mount an aftermarket USB that powers or a 12 socket with an adaptor. I think the USB is neater.

I did think about using bits from an outlander about the same age and swapping out bits from the large lid console (the one that has two levers and a top lid that flips down. Unsure if that could even work. I don't want to lose the Evo leather Console lid.

I like your idea,the tray is a really neat fit.Should be able to pick up a box from one of our local wreckers and than hack it up to your hearts content

The console tray I have shown is for an outlander. The lancer needs one that’s a little shorter and more square. I have sent a few messages to some sellers from AliExpress to try and get some that will fit. The Pajero one is more square but I don’t know dimensions.

i have bought a difference one im yet to wire up
if you look on the centre console of the NA on the driver side back behind the hand brake, there is a small rectangular piece
i was going to drill a hole in there and mount a dual USB charger adaptor there
still havent got round to it yet

I have checked out a few catalog sites including that one. The diagrams are so hard to read sometimes. I remember in my wife’s vrx there was a power socket within the centre console. Most likely in that location you described. I think they omitted it in my evo due to having to power the heated seats from the similar location. I am thinking of maybe grabbing that outlander console tray and cutting off part of it. It will be at the back anyway and I need somewhere to run the wire for the wireless charger anyway so may not be too bad. I think the double lid outlander console is totally different on the top and is also longer so I might strike this idea off. If I can get a console tray to fit in there then I’ll find a suitable wireless charging pad to sit in there. Hooking up to power may not even need a usb socket I can just drill a small hole and just hard wire to an accessory power.

interesting stuff, unfortunately i cant do this with my phone - bloody thing is huge and wouldn't fit in a tray in there!

I just got some messages back from aliexpress, no go on the console tray they don't make one suitable. Back to the drawing board.

looks like it might be trimmable, so i could make it fit to sit just above my centre console cupholder tray.

Thanks that looks awesome. I actually sat my phone in the console and it's too large for the centre console. I should have tried doing this before I thought about getting a console tray. This is most likely why they don't make one and sell it on Aliexpress, I think it will be just continuing to use the windscreen mount.

Damn, it's these kinds of things that make me realise how handy a 3D printer can be. These ideas are neat!
I especially love the centre console organiser.
