Gear Knob Reccomendations

Postby AidanO » Mon Nov 07, 2016 4:43 pm

Hey all, my stock gear knob is starting to slip every now and then (loose twisting) and I've been meaning to get a new one for a while now.

Can anyone reccomend a good place to get an aftermarket one?

Thanks :)

eBay has loads but the quality varies, might want to try the likes of Auto Barn or SCA.

The Lancer has two types of gear knob, push on and screw on (don't know which model has which or cut over years).

If it's a push on you could try glue it on with a polyurethane glue, or give it a hard wack to see if it has come up off it's clip point.

If it's screw on it may just need a few turns.

The official leather/alloy ones are nice but don't expect much change from $200-$300 dollars. You may be able to get a leather second hand one from ebay etc from an Evo X or higher spec from someone who has changed to the alloy option.

Got this on eBay about a year ago, can't find them on eBay anymore but this is the seller.
"Gear Knob Genuine Quality Leather with Yellow Cap Made in ITALY"
http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/burgdesignau ... 2749.l2754
Only issue is it sometimes comes loose but I keep the Allen key in the car to fix it which is pretty easy.

And yes that's a new boot for the gear change, much better than the stock one. Again can't find them now but this was the seller.
"Car Gear Head Dust Cover Vehicle Frosted Leather Gear Shift Knob Boot Universal"
http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/aucarstyle20 ... 2749.l2754
Easy install once you get the panel out.

Both cost about $15 each, so not a bad upgrade to personalize your ride.
