Seat Covers

Postby Gone_Troppo » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:38 am

I'm looking at seat covers for the car (we have a young child so seat covers wil hopefully provide an extra layer of protection from the wear and tear that kids inevitably cause).
Knowing we have the airbags in the VRX it kinda limits the choices with ready made covers though.

Genuine covers are a bit out of my price range atm (and look like they leave the bolsters completely exposed to all the grime anyway) so I'm looking at something like these: cheapy seat covers

Will they be suitable? can you suggest a better alternative?

Also, has anyone found rear seat covers that allow for the centre armrest? If you have I'd love to see them.

Hey mate,

There's nothing wrong with those cheapy ones they are specifically for side air bag seat. If you were wondering i'm pretty sure those specific ones are made by Sperling http://www.sperling.com.au/ who also offer tailor mades for the rear. You would probably be looking at about $100 for rears in a similar material (theres allowances made for arm rests, in the cheaper versions a zip or for a little more a fitted cover).

I can find out a little more info and firmer prices on monday if you would like.

not sure you would be keen on "ed hardy" designed ones lol

but at k'mart they have a design called "tankard" which also allows for the side airbags.

These will do for what you need Troppo
Especially with kids, there's no point in going all out until they get a little older

The side airbags do limit your options a little bit, but if you find a good set that have the airbag part for the side and are cheap then go for it

or you could cut out the side to make room for the airbag lol

I got a quote from mitsu today about the genuine lancer seat covers..

Front and rear seatcovers supplied and fitted = $750

This seems excessive to me. Is this price range correct?

considering the OEM floormats are around the $600 mark I would say that price sounds about right

That is probably right!!

I paid $1000 for my full replacement leather interior from X-Factor!! So much easier to keep clean too :)

huh? OEM floormats are A$75 (Auto) and A$72 (Manual) respectively. What gave you the idea that it was A$600?
