Bucket seats Dilemma

Hey everyone, I'm getting some bucket seats for the drivers and passenger soon. But i don't know how to get around the airbag, i don't want the airbag icon to pop up in my dash. Does anyone know how to get around this so that the airbag icon does not come up on the dash? Any help or ideas all be very much appreciated. Thank you

have seen evo 10 recaros for sale, that would solve the air bag problem. rarely seen them tho.

alternatively, and im just guessing here, theres airbag delete for steering wheel (basically a resistor) so there should be those for seat airbag as well? then grab what ever u want.

Thanks for the help mate, i did ask a friend and he did mention about resistors but he too doesn't know how it works :p

something to find out before you install without airbags is how will this affect your insurance and warranty as well as rego and if the passenger can sue you for tamping with a safety item if you have a t bone.

Doesn't airbag removal also render the car defective/unroadworthy? I'd suggest the Evo's Recaros so you don't cross the line and, more importantly, compromise safety.L

Yeah, removal of any safety item (active or passive), is illegal, well in NSW anyways.

Totally agree, don't risk your life or anyone else's for the sake of some seats... It will most likely wipe your insurance too because if they catch on (and they will in the event of an accident) your insurance is gone... Play it smart and get some bucket seats which are ADR approved with airbags
I know how to bypass the light but that's for testing reasons only...

thanks for all the great replies guys. i am aware about insurance, but if i bump into someone and crack my bumper, theres nothing to do with the seats right?

Ah to be young and naive again...

Mate, even if you're in a not-at-fault accident and the insurer finds out about the seats you will be personally liable for the repair of both cars.

Lets hope a light comes on in your head, then you won't have to worry about the one on the dash.

Theres a bit more too it.
You've got the seat airbag itself, easliy dealt with with a 2 ohm resistor

The seat slider position sensor which tells your steering wheel airbag how to deploy, which you'll need to realign/mount to your new seat

and then you'll have the passenger seat weight sensor to deal with which involves some work with the seat brackets.

Not saying you shouldn't do it, i was looking to get some seats at one point but its a bigger job that it seems and taking away airbags just has bad idea written all over it.

In many states it is in fact an offence to remove or disable any safety device a car come with standard. If you find yourself in an accident no matter who or what caused the accident your car could be deemed un roadworthy negating any insurance you have.
