WTB: Black bonnet

Hi everyone

I haven't been on for so long! I've had my lancer since 2011 and overtime my paint has become so bad! (Poor thing is not garaged).

I've had my roof and spoilers repainted costing me $1200.

I asked the shop howmuch it would cost to also paint my bonnet but he advised It would cost me additional $700..

This absolutely breaks not just my wallet or the bank but my balls too..

He then tried to buff it making it worse..

I watched a few YouTube clips and it looks relatively easy to replace.

I was wondering if anyone has a stock black bonnet that's collecting dust that they'd be happy to sell.

You could try wrapping it for that carbon fibre look?

Why so much, did the roof on my old coupe a few years ago and it was only $300, wouldn't think a bonnet would be much more?

Was thinking of doing that but I'm kind of over that phase. (Nothing wrong with it but kind of just more into that all black stock feel) But yes I might end up doing just that.

Might be a cheap option until you have enough for a respray?

Before you go wrapping anything make sure the surface your wrapping is silky smooth to begin with
If you can run your finger nail over it and it gets caught on rough edges or scratches then fix the scratches
If not when you wrap it the scratches will show up in your wrap as imperfections and it will look just as bad as it did before you started

Buffing a polish is probably the worst thing you can do to a paint work of a vehicle
Must hand held units run about 1500 RPM
Doesn't take much to push too hard or go to slow and before you know it you have destroyed the paint that is a whisker thin to begin with.
If you absolutely feel the need to do so something start with a clay bar of the paint. If you have NFI what your doing take it to a professional and get them to do it .
Best idea is to look after the paint work from the get go and then you won't have these dramas to begin with
Wash the car once a week
Use micro fibre cloth not sponged cos they retain dirt like no man's business.
Also everyone thinks that rain water is good for the car.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Rain water on the paint contains all kinds of pollution and can damage it.
Everyone also thinks parking under a tree is a wonderful idea.
It's not. The tree will drop leaves on your car. Birds land on the branch and do their business on your car and that is no good for paint work . And sometimes a branch will fall off the tree and slam into what ever is under it and this is definitely no good for your car also.
Get some decent window tint in the car and don't park under trees
