Hi there - SXLancerMum

Postby SXLancerMum » Wed Feb 16, 2011 10:56 am

Hello everyone. My name is Jacqueline. My husband bought me a Lightning Blue 2011 Lancer SX for Valentines Day. Quite an upgrade from an old Mazda 121 Bubble.

I was torn between the Lancer and the Mazda 3 but the Mazda with the same stuff on it was more than $3000 more and I really don't like the smiley faces. The finish of the cars wasn't that different really. Not at the lower end of the scale with the ES/SX and Neo/Maxx range anyway. I've owned Mazdas for 27 years so this is a biiiigg step for me. We did have a couple of Magnas way back when for work and they were good cars and the 5/10 yr warranty offered by Mitsubishi swayed me as well. If they weren't confident about their cars they wouldn't give such good warranties or 5 years free roadside service or capped servicing. I hope I made the right choice.

So far I think it's pretty awesome. I'm loving the bluetooth and the usb and the power everything after the little Mazda. The only big thing it had was air con and that was an optional extra back then. My husband leases a different new car from work at least once a year (23 brand new cars in 23 years) and I can drive them so I'm used to all the good stuff in cars but I've never had it all in my own car.

Thanks everyone for the welcome :)

I don't have any plans to modify Mattigins. Not yet anyway. I'm pretty happy with it just the way it is at the moment.

@Hoges I actually found out about the club through a random post on Mitsubishi Club Australia after I'd googled Lancer or Mitsubishi car clubs. I was checking out some posts on the forum and there was a reference to ClubCJ.net so I hopped on over here to check it out. Thought I'd stay a while :)

I have been a member of a Mazda forum for years after buying an RX7 for my then 17 yr old son. It was the best way to find out stuff about the car. I decided that it would be the same for the Lancer. The best way to find out about the Lancer is to talk to other Lancer drivers :)

And I would love to be able to get to an outing or two. We'll have to see but not for a while. Don't have a chance to get out of town yet. (Even though I've been sneaking off for a few minutes here and there for little drives hehehehe)

Yeah well he did go halves with me. It was a 1979 Series 1 RX7. Red with black interior. Every Year 12 boy needs an RX7. He moved to Brisbane when school finished and it just wasn't a city car. Also he had to leave it on the street and he didn't like that. I used to love driving that car. I miss it :( We sold it a month ago to a 50 something year old guy who wanted to do it up.

He got himself a VR Calais. Full leather interior and power everything and shiny mags. He laughs at me because his 16 year old car has everything my new Lancer has. I just call him Bogan Boy :) (not that there's anything wrong with being a bogan) He has the look down well too. He was supposed to go for a small economical car and ended up with a V6 Commodore. Boys.

I would have preferred something smaller. Replacing the tyres wouldn't have cost me the earth. I put new, decent tyres on every second hand car we buy as soon as we get it. These ones were pretty bald and he only came home this week so I replaced them today. $165 a tyre at the local tyre place. The ones I wanted were $199. I usually only put Toyos on the kids cars. I put Nanking on his. They're supposed to be good though.

@Chubb I'll look out for you :)
